Update re Anti-Social Behaviour |
||
Good Evening, This evening PCSO Radcliffe has spent time at Darley Dale Youth Club which is running over the summer holidays on a Tuesday and Wednesday evening at the Whitworth Darley Dale. The youths who attended this evening enjoyed making smoothies with @activedales . Following on from this patrols were carried out around Whitworth Park and Willow Way play area in Darley Dale following recent complaints of anti-social behaviour from youths in the area. Although some people may not feel that youths playing music late at night is an issue, unfortunately it is for the residents who live there as it is happening on a regular basis and on some occasions continues until after 2300 in an evening. Youths are also reported to be throwing stones at properties, leaving lots of litter and broken glass, shouting and swearing. No-one is wanting to spoil there fun but when it is affecting nearby residents it then becomes anti-social behaviour. Following on from the last post, there were a few negative comments on how police criminalise children for 'playing loud music' - however this is not the case, quite the opposite. The anti-social behaviour process involves engaging with the youths involved and their parents to address their behaviour and educate them as to why their behaviour is not acceptable, they are children and are not expected to be aware of everything and might not even know they are causing someone to be upset or in some cases frightened. Criminalising a child is a last resort and only used in extreme circumstances. Activities such as the youth club are put on to give the young people in Darley Dale something to do in an evening as we often hear, "there is nothing to do around here". Encourage your teens to a-pproach their local PCSO whilst out on patrol and complete a 'youth survey' through Derbyshire Talking so we can feed back to relavant authorities what provisions you would like in the area.
